ANNOUNCING
THE LAUNCH OF IHIO TRUCK OUTREACH ~ "SIDEWALK CHALK"!
Keep us in prayer. We hit the road on November 14th and are still
going strong. God is doing wonderful, incredible things through
this outreach!
In
parenting I
have found that while every part of my child’s
life is invaluable, some moments are special treasures.
God has given me some unique times with David that are more
precious than words can describe.
For
us, In His Image Outreach Ministries, ChildPair is broader, and
yet simpler, than connecting those children who need new families
to the homes open to them. God burdened my heart with the thought
that each child needs the same kind of treasured moments David
and I have shared; good things to store in their memory bank
so that in life’s
events they may recall moments with a caring, Christian adult
and, in the remembering, find strength and hope to endure
because they have had a true glimpse of the Father’s
love.
While
you may not be able, or feel led, to open your home and life
on a long-term basis, we are hoping to have adults who will be
willing to help create treasured moments in a child’s
life. We believe through this tangible act, you will be the
door to that child seeing the Good Shepherd, enabling them to
believe and have hope in the midst of life’s trials.
We
are developing ideas and avenues for “Loving Acts of
Kindness”. Call us to learn how you can become involved
in God changing the heart, mind and life of a child.

How
Can Your Church Help?
[Click to return

PAGE]
ChildPair
can help your church or community group reach out in love to
foster children.
Here, we outline some practical, hands-on volunteer projects
available for congregations, individuals, fellowship groups, church
schools, clubs or other organizations through ChildPair.
Welcome
Kit Project
Many children arrive at their new foster home with little or
nothing of their own. Welcome kits say, "You are special" to a child
who feels all alone. Call ChildPair for details on starting a kit or
basket team.
Baby
Shower
Foster and foster/adoptive parents may get only hours notice that an
infant or toddler (or a sibling group of brothers and sisters) is being
placed in their home-needed equipment gives practical support to emergency
families.
Party
Planners/ Delivery
Organize a "shower" for abused or abandoned children by having participants
purchase new baby equipment or gift certificates toward: Car Seats,
Portable Cribs, Single or Double Strollers, High Chairs, Booster Seats,
Infant Gates, Etc ...
Simply mail in the gift certificates (Target, Wal-Mart, Babies-R-Us,
etc.) to ChildPair or drop the Equipment off at the ChildPair office.
Children's
Equipment Drive
Recycle your children's outgrown but still useful equipment. Gently
used baby and children's equipment can be collected at church and dropped
off at ChildPair.
Useful items included high chairs, standard cribs, portable cribs,
infant swings, infant gates, strollers, playpens, tricycles, kiddie
cars, play stove and sink sets, play structures, bicycles, etc.
Security
Blanket/Blanket Clubs
New handmade quilts, hand knit or crocheted Afghans or hand-sewn baby
blankets that say "I love you" in a tangible way to a foster child
or teen. Individuals and groups can make these very personal blankets
and deliver them to a local distribution center.
Stitch
in Time Clubs
Individuals or groups who love to sew new children's clothing or add
custom touches to new or gently used items can help make a foster child
feel like a prince or princess for a day.
Prayer
Team
Foster parents who care for medically or emotionally traumatized children
sometimes ask to be linked to prayer support networks.
Summer
Picnic/Children's Theatre
Volunteers are always needed at our summer picnic/children's theatre
event for 100 or more foster children and their families. Refreshments,
games and crafts make a two-hour party fly by. Event hosting provides
a 'hands-on' opportunity for your church or group to care for foster
families and honor their commitment to abused children.
Finding
Families
Help find families and friends for foster children at your church and
in your neighborhood: Schedule a brief
announcement or a full presentation at your church or group on the
growing need for foster and adoptive families and volunteers - as well
as practical information on how to get started. ChildPair works with
you to provide a staff or volunteer speaker, promotional flyers, videos,
applications and regular mailings of brief updates to run in your bulletin
or church newsletter

Respite
Care
Respite
care is the short-term care of a child which enables foster or
adoptive parents to take a break.
Respite
fostering is often very rewarding, and a close relationship
can grow between families over the years.
Some respite carers will have had special training to care for the varying
needs of children.
Respite
care will almost never be longer than a couple of weeks,
and is very often measured in hours or days. Respite care
is often a critical component of family preservation efforts.
